In order for every student to be successful, all students in the 6 th grade are required to complete homework on a daily basis. Homework is an essential part of the school curriculum. It is not assigned “busy work,” but rather a necessary extension of the school day. Homework is also assigned to develop organizational skills, independent study habits, as well as to contribute to your child.
The sixth grade teachers work to help your child achieve that independent goal by helping to develop the whole child in a faith centered environment. We work towards independence by teaching organizational skills such as weekly test schedules, daily homework assignments, and by providing long term projects. Students are asked to set aside time each evening to review the material of the day and.
Homework Policy: All homework is due the next day unless otherwise notated by the teacher. Completed homework is worth 10 points, if any part of the assignment is not completed, students will receive 7 points. If homework is not turned in students will receive 0 points. Make-up homework is only given to students who are absent. Those students are allowed up to 3 days to turn the homework in.

Homework for Grade 6 will generally not exceed 30-45 minutes per school day. Homework will usually be set on Friday and will be due the following Friday. Occasionally a minor task will be due earlier in the week if we are using the information for a specific lesson in class. Having a full week to complete tasks allows families to work out when is the best time for them to allocate to homework.
